State of South Carolina Vaccine Programs Information and Resources

Guides for VFC Providers:

Federal VFC Program Overview and Forms:

All providers, including those currently enrolled in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, must complete this enrollment process to be eligible to receive federally funded VFC vaccine. All providers will utilize the online system called SCIAPPS to enroll in the VFC program

For those providers completing an initial enrollment into the VFC Program, they will need to establish a new account in SCIAPPS. For those new providers a Provider Identification Number (PIN) will be assigned to the practice site for participation in the VFC program. Please note: Practices with multiple office locations must enroll each office as a separate VFC Program Provider Site if that site will be offering immunization services using federally funded VFC vaccine.

NOTE: Deadline to complete the VFC re-enrollment is Tuesday May 28, 2019. Providers, who do not complete and submit all required enrollment forms by Tuesday May 28, 2019 in SCIAPPS via the VFC Enrollment System will jeopardize their ability to order vaccines.

In order to become a VFC provider in South Carolina, providers can only see children from birth through 18 years of age, must be licensed in the state to vaccinate, must have capacity to order, receive, and manage public vaccine, including proper vaccine storage and temperature monitoring capacity, provider agrees to all program requirements, including participation in site visits and educational opportunities, and cannot be on the current List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) as described by on the United States Office of Inspector General.

SC State Vaccine Program Overview:

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) offers the SC State Vaccine Program (State Program) as a supplement to the Federal VFC Program. The purpose of the State Vaccine program is to allow non-FQHC/non-RHC providers to serve the "underinsured" child in their medical home. Participation in the State Vaccine Program also allows all VFC enrolled providers to vaccinate certain insured-hardship children.

Providers must be enrolled in the Federal VFC Program as a prerequisite to enrollment in the State Vaccine Program. Providers may opt to participate in the VFC Program only or both the VFC and State Vaccine Programs. A separate enrollment agreement is required in SCIAPPS for the VFC and State Vaccine programs to ensure accountability. Enrollment documents for both programs may be submitted to the Immunization Division together for processing.

Please note the following: The SC State Vaccine Program offers all ACIP recommended vaccines with the EXCEPTION of the Meningococcal B vaccines, which is ONLY available through the Federal VFC Program.
